Blessings and Curses

All of us have our share of suffering and Christians are not exempted from them. We don’t welcome it but we seldom have much control. Father Henri Nouwen says:
“It is an on going temptation to think of our lives as living under a curse. The loss of a friend, an illness, an accident, a natural disaster, a war, or any failure can make us quickly think that we are no good and are being punished. This temptation to think of our lives as full of curses is even greater when all the media present us day after day with stories about human misery.
Jesus came to bless us, not to curse us. But we must choose to receive that blessing and hand it on to others. Blessings and curses are always placed in front of us. We are to choose. God says, ‘Choose the blessings!’” (Bread for the Journey, Sept 8)

“To bless means to say good things. We have to bless one another constantly. Parents need to bless their children, children their parents, husbands their wives, wives their husbands, friends their friends. In our society, so full of curses, we must fill each place we enter with our blessings. We forget so quickly that we are God’s beloved children and allow the many curses of our world to darken our hearts. Therefore, we have to be reminded of our belovedness and remind others of theirs. Whether the blessing is given in words or with gestures, in a solemn or an informal way, our lives need to be blessed lives.” (Bread for the Journey, Sept 7)
We bless ourselves:
· when we give thanks with a grateful heart.
· when we listen to the quiet, inner voice that says good things about ourselves.
· when we affirm ourselves and know that we have given the best of ourselves in whatever we have worked on.
· when we shut out the loud, busy outer voice that says we are being punished.

We bless others:
· when we speak good things about them and to them.
· when we show by our gestures that their presence is a joy to us.
· when we reveal to them their gifts, their goodness and their talents.

1. Our reactions immediately after an unpleasant event happens
When we lose our job, when we have an abusive boss, when a car accident happens, when we are robbed, when we are seriously ill, when we have cancer, the immediate question “Why?” emerges. “Why me?” “Why now?” “Why here?” “What have I done wrong?” “Why am I being punished?” It is so difficult to live without an answer to this “Why?” But, if we are too focused and obsessed with finding the answers to these questions of the causes of these events, we are more likely to end up being angry and bitter. Bitterness will turn us away from God and thus we curse ourselves.

In order to help me see my suffering and pain in a new light, I have to change my focus. Now that the unpleasant event has happened, what should my response be? By concentrating on my response, I am more likely to end up turning to God, trusting Him and blessing myself. How is this done? Mother Teresa advised, “Just accept whatever He gives and give whatever He takes with a big smile.” (The Wisdom of Mother Teresa, 42) Who can do that? I can’t do it. It is impossible for me to accept with a smile this suffering and adversity. Whenever I say anything is impossible, I have inadvertently put a curse on myself! I have shut out all possibilities. But I may be able to accept it with a smile, if I truly believe that “God loves me” (John 15:9 TEV) and that “I am precious to Him” (Isaiah 43:4 TEV). How? This requires a change in mindset and heart-set because if I am precious to God, then it stands to reason that He cares for me and knows my suffering and hardships and that He has permitted, allowed, sent or given them to me. Furthermore, I will surely be able to smile if I turn to God and wholeheartedly believe that with God’s help all things are possible as, “This is impossible with human beings, but for God everything is possible” (Matthew 19:26 TEV). When I embrace this truth, I bless myself. Therefore, I must trust that God has allowed the suffering to be a means of discipline through which faith, love, patience and grace may be cultivated in my life. God will not allow my suffering and pain to be wasted and to be of no value to me. God will see me through my suffering and will carry me through it all but I have to keep reminding myself that, ”I have the strength to face all conditions by the power that Christ gives me.” (Philippians 4:13 TEV) And “God has given us a spirit of power and of love and of a sound mind" (2 Timothy 1:7 TEV). This belief, this constant repetition will help me to face my suffering and hardships in a new perspective. What I need to do is to turn to God, do my best under the circumstances and trust Him to turn it round for my good. God promises to take “all things” including suffering, abuses, evil things, and turn them round for good as “in all things God works for good with those who love Him”(Romans 8:28 TEV).

But what is for our good? This is for the individual to pray and with God’s help to discover. He needs to constantly search for himself answers to the questions: “What is the seed of equivalent good in my suffering?” “What is the seed of equivalent benefit in my adversity?” Some good traits which we may develop can be more patience, more consideration, less arrogance and less resentment.

Remember, all God requires of us is to come to Him in prayer and trust Him completely. Trust Him to turn our lives around. He will not fail us because we can trust God “who always keeps His promise.” (1 Peter 4:19 TEV) We do our part and give of our best and He will do His part. When we turn to God, God will work WITH us to turn the suffering and pain round for our good. The circumstances, the pain, the suffering, the hardship or the adversity may still be there and may not change much BUT our response and internal attitude towards them will certainly change. Yes, we can take God at His Word that He will help us, comfort us, strengthen us and support us through our pain and suffering. Then, suffering can become a turning point from which we take our greatest leap forward in our faith in God. When we trust God, God gives us the hope and courage to look suffering in the face and to go through it confidently with a renewed spirit and heart. Our suffering will, hopefully, turn us round to come in closer touch with the presence of God in our lives. The great secret in life is that suffering can become a source of new hope and new life. We will then learn to accept it with a smile. This is indeed a blessing.

2. Our memory of events long after they happened
How we recount these unpleasant experiences is also vitally important. When we constantly recount them:
· with blaming God,
· with blaming others,
· with cursing our fate,
· with anger,
· with fear,
· with regret,
· with the feeling of being victimised,
then we put these events under the curse. When we feel we are being punished, the feeling of being cursed comes easily. We will hear an inner voice calling us “bad,” “rotten,” “worthless,” “useless,” “doomed to sickness and death.” We darken our hearts and live our lives with bitterness and resentment. So, we unconsciously curse ourselves.

But blessing is nothing more than recounting positively these events:
· with what God has helped us to endure or overcome,
· with what patience our family and friends have stood by us,
· with what we have learnt out of the events, and
· with hope, courage and love.
Then we put these experiences under the blessing and we consciously bless ourselves.

Henri Nouwen says, “In Latin, to bless is benedicere. The word ‘benediction’ that is used in many churches means literally: speaking (dictio) well (bene) or saying good things of someone. That speaks to me. I need to hear good things said of me, and I know how much you have the same need. Nowadays, we often say: ‘We have to affirm each other.’ Without affirmations, it is hard to live well. To give someone a blessing is the most significant affirmation we can offer. It is more than a word of praise or appreciation; it is more than pointing out someone’s talents or good deeds; it is more than putting someone in the light. To give a blessing is to affirm, to say ‘yes’ to a person’s Belovedness. And more than that: to give a blessing creates the reality of which it speaks. There is a lot of mutual admiration in this world, just as there is a lot of mutual condemnation. A blessing goes beyond the distinction between admiration or condemnation, between virtues or vices, between good deeds or evil deeds. A blessing touches the original goodness of the other and calls forth his or her Belovedness.” (Life of the Beloved, 56)

Physical, mental or emotional pain lived under the blessing is experienced in ways radically different from physical, mental or emotional pain lived under the curse. Even a small burden, perceived as a sign of our worthlessness, can lead us to deep depression. But, great and heavy burdens become light and easy when they are lived in the light of the blessing. What seems intolerable becomes a challenge. What seems a reason for despair becomes a source of hope. What seems punishment becomes a gentle pruning from God. What seems rejection becomes a way to a deeper communion with God. And so the great task becomes that of allowing the blessing to touch us in our brokenness. Then our brokenness will gradually come to be seen as an opening towards the full acceptance of ourselves as the Beloved children of God. This explains why true joy can be experienced in the midst of great suffering. It is the joy of being disciplined, purified and pruned. Just as athletes who experience great pain as they run the race can, at the same time, taste the joy of knowing that they are coming closer to their goal, so also can the Beloved experience suffering as a way to deeper communion with God. Here joy and sorrow are no longer each other’s opposites, but have become the two sides of the same desire to grow to the fullness of the Beloved. For this blessed attitude to take root, we have to have deep faith that God loves us unconditionally and that we are the beloved children of God, very precious to Him.

God sent Jesus to bless us, “God. . . sent Him to bless you” (Acts 3:26 NJB) and Jesus himself has blessed us with every spiritual blessing, “our Lord Jesus Christ, who has blessed us with all the spiritual blessings” (Ephesians 1:3 NJB). Jesus shows us by His Words and Deeds how to live a blessed life, “Blessed are those who do His commandments” (Revelation 22:14 NKJV). Jesus creates a whole new blessed environment for us to dwell in and, ”how happy are those who hear the word of God and obey it!"(Luke 11:28 TEV) We have to choose to stay in that place with Him and to hand His blessings on to others to make our blessings grow and multiply.

Remember, no one is brought to life through curses, blaming, gossips, accusations and punishment. But every one is brought to life through blessings, encouragement, affirmations, praises, rewards and forgiveness.

My Random Thot:

Was told by a very dear friend that I'm very jaded in my behavior. Jaded about life in general, rather about everything in life. Bad, really bad. Guess I'll need to monitor my behavior or improve my "view" in life. Wondering how to do that. Perhaps a talk with a psychologist? Hmmmm.

145. Pretenders

My Random Thots:

Damn, them pretenders :P always frontin and acting as if they're so holy. :P The moment u turn your back, they stab. Gosh, now I know why the bible mentioned that the rewards of the
pharasees are paid in full here on earth. They do their little puppet show in public in order to gain "respect" and "adoration". Oh well, i guess in time, they'll be paid in "kind".

When will people learn that yes! the truth hurts sometimes, but not as much as dishonesty! Gee, and I'm suppose to be the Childish Himbo :D

144. MJ's case update

Jacko's infamous Police Mug Shot

Today, Wacko Jacko's defense team rests. His fate will be up the the jury. Did Wacko's team raise enough reasonable doubt? Guess time will tell. They did do a good job by showing the accuser's mom as a cunning cheat. Well, whether he's guilty or not, as far as I'm concerned, He shouldn't have let those kids in his room after going thru the fiasco once back in 1994.

Defense rests without putting Jackson on stand

My parents left for China this morning. Seng sent them to the airport and we'll be on our own for the next 7 days. Didn't do much today but work, went for dinner at Kapitan and called it a nite. Raine has been receiving crank calls the whole day at home. So she called her parents over. Her parents will be staying with her for the next few nites. We'll have to be more alert coming home from late nites.

141. Holiday still!!!!

It's monday, but it's a holiday still because yesterday was Wesak Day and today is the replacement holiday :)

Wee left for China at 6 this morning. It's some supplier training program. Lucky him.

Came home from tea at Green Lane and after parking my car in front of my house, I heard a hissing sound from the drain beside me. Sounds like a cat, didn't think too much of it until i took a look at the "angry kitty". Turned out it was a baby cobra!!! Yikes!

It's Chong's brother's birthday and we're invited for the bbq at his place. Stayed till 1am and headed back home.

138. Sean's B'day

It's Sean Lim's 1st b'day tonite. Haven't bought his present yet :) Will stop by a baby shop near my house and see if I can get anything. Managed to squeeze some info out of Chuwy. He told me that Sean could use some shoes. So that will be on my list.

Was at the baby shop and my goodness, there be loads of stuff that a baby "needs". Heh heh heh. Anyway, did get the shoes and also a push "jeep". Thot i'll leave my mark on the kid early on his life :D

Sean's present - Shoe and Push "Jeep"

The party was interesting, the only familiar face is Chuwy's family, Chuang & Niki. The rest of the guest are Chuwy's cell group members. Hmmmm, talk about moving on. I haven't even found a "home" church yet. Much prefer the drifter life :) Figured 6 years of my life devoted to God is enough. I've seen the good, the bad and the ugly of Christians, so time to move on ;)

Time to get home and call it a nite. Looking forward to KL tomorrow.
137. Catch up week

Tuesday (17th May)
Just found out that I've been assigned to go KL with Wee to the CardEx in Putra World Trade Center tomorrow. Will be leaving later tonite and spend the nite in KL and head over to AM Bank at Jalan Yap Kwan Seng for them to get my road tax done.

Suddenly had to rush to clear my work before driving down to KL, but my office's mail server went down. So had to kau tim that first. Darn, also there are a few issues with my customer. Suddenly everything seems to crash on me.

Managed to clear everything and headed down to KL as scheduled.

Wednesday (18th May)
Head to KLCC as Jalan Yap Kwan Seng is near there. Managed to get my road tax settled and we head over to PWTC. The exhibition was dissapointing. Even smaller than last year. Shows that this is not where the industry is headed. Left KL at about 2pm. Reached office at about 5:30pm. Left office at about 8pm.

Yew Peng came over to pick me up and we head over to KB to met up with Chong, Lai and Adrian. After dinner at the mamak stall, we send Adrian back to his office at Tikam Batu. He works at a paper mill. He gave us a plant tour. :) Very interesting. He showed us the process of making paper. We learn new things every day.

Called it a nite at about 12am. Chuwy called and said he's on my way to my house. He needed a display spot light for some exhibition at his work place.

Just remembered a friend is leaving for vacation today. Hope she will have a good time.

Thursday (19th May)
Busy day at work. Looking forward to Star Wars III this evening. Since I'm in town, I stopped by Midlands One Stop to pick up my Wireless USB connector which has been in the shop for repairs since last month.

The movie was good. It could've been better if i didn't have to hold my pee for the last hour and half. :)

After the movie, Chong is at Gurney Plaza as well. So we met up and called Yew Peng and Dennis. Chong and I made ourself comfortable at Segafredo and waited for the other 2 to appear.

Lepak till about midnite. Just realised I still haven't bought any present for Sean's Birthday party tomorrow nite. Need to go buy it tomorrow.

136. Come soon, Star Wars Episode III will.

Another 3 days and I'll get to see what the hype is all about.

STAR WARS Episode III : Revenge of the Sith
135. Weekend update

Friday (13th May)
Survived Friday the 13th without incident. It's the next 2 days that was hectic and fun at the same time. Kinky!

Anyway, we arrived Friday nite in KL without much drama. Didn't get as much rest the nite before as i'd prefer. We were suppose to meet at 6pm at the Juru rest area. After everyone (Yew Peng, Chong, Ah Lai, Adrian, Ah Khai and Ah Loy) arrive at the Juru rest area, We finally left at 7pm. It was raining very heavily so we took our own sweet time. We finally reached KL at about 10:45pm. Went straight to Paramount at SEA Park (near DUMC) to meet up with Jack, Ann, Jeff and some other friends.

We went back to hotel to shower and freshen up. This freshening up is obviously not my idea :P After refreshing THEMSELVES, we decided to go over to Bangsar to have the nasi lemak ayam. But this time we tried a different shop. It seems that the one we tried during our last trip was much better. As we sat and ate, we planned our activities for saturday

Saturday (14th May)
Woke up "early" at 9:30am. I wasn't hungry so I stayed in the room to sort out some issues back at the office. Don't they understand that when I'm on leave, I prefer to be left alone and not be bugged by office issues unless it's an emergency.

Yew Peng and the rest came back from breakfast so we set out looking for the clinic that Yew Peng is suppose to go for his compulsory medical check up pre entrance into the flight school in Melacca. After that episode, we went round KL looking for a car on behalf of Chong's brother. Went to about 4 dealers and have one more private seller tomorrow.

Me, Chong, Yew Peng and Jack posing (We dunno whos car that is)

After all that, we went over to Sunway to meet with Jack and Ann. Basically spend the whole evening there. Dinner was great. It was a seafood restaurant in PJ. Especially liked the Fried buns that goes with the marmite crab. Nice, but rather steep :) After the heavy meal, they decided to go out partying.

Food Fiasco

Me making that fiasco :)

Ah Lai's friend recommended we go to this place called the Loft on the Heritage Row. It seems that Joanne is also familiar with the place Ah Lai's friend recommended. Good thing too, we were gonna go in 2 cars, so at least we don't have to worry if we loose sight of the first car. OK, back to the Heritage Row, apparently it's a row of happening places right in the heart of the city. Never even knew this place existed. Found out that Bar Savanh is also on the same stretch. We reached the entrance of The Loft and I saw the line of people trying to get in. Boy it's gonna be a long, long nite. Surprisingly Ah Lai went to talk to the bouncer and next thing you know, we're in. Nice :)

A typical KL setting i'll say. The architecture of the building itself is eye candy. The interiors are lavishly decorated and of course the price of drinks there are *ahem* classy as well. This is the first time I see Yew Peng pouring drinks for himself. Interesting, wonder if there's anything on his mind. Heh heh heh. Basically stayed till closing time and went over to God knows where for porridge. Surprisingly after stuffing ourselves silly with crab not too long ago, we're now hungry already. The piggy strikes again.

Goodness, I've never seen so many police road blocks in my life. They're everywhere and the blocks were set up in every direction. You basically can't get out of the area without passing 1 police block. We were adventurous (lost), we passed 2. Heh heh heh. I reckon if he sees us one more time, he'll pull us over eventhough we weren't drunk or anything.

Sunday (15th May)
Alarm went off at 9am. We have a 10 o'clock with the private seller at Bangsar. We dragged ourselves out of bed. at 9:30am the seller smsed me to tell me he can't make and if we can reschedule to 3:45pm at J.W.Marriot. After consulting with Chong and taking some shooting from him, I smsed him back to tell him OK. Shoot the messenger why don't they :P

Went back to sleep.

Checked out of the hotel at 1pm and went for lunch. After lunch, met up with the buyer and took a look at the car. This one is in the best condition of the lot we saw. At least it was worth the time to get caught up in the jam and all.

We left for Penang after that. Stopped at Sg Buloh to replace my car's spark plug coz it was flooded. Spent about 30mins to do that and set off on our way again. Stopped at Tapah for dinner and again at Taiping for a toilet break. We made one final stop after the Juru toll to say goodbyes but Yew Peng, Jack and I head to a mamak at Sg Ara for "debriefing". Finally reached home at 1am. Suprisingly my mom and Seng is still awake. Chatted a bit and retired to my room.

Gosh, am I happy to see my bed.

134. Another day has passed

What have I learned recently? It seems that I've stopped "growing" for a while. Was too busy with work and my car problems that I forgot to sit back and just watch. Trying to think of interesting events to blog about.

Now just watching "Hitch" and thinking of what to blog. There are a few elements in the show that I find very interesting :) Especially some comments Allegra made about Albert after they kissed. Heh heh heh. But then again, everybody says that, right? Anyway, back to the blog.

It seems that I need to get back to slowing down the pace of my life, but probably after tomorrow. Heh heh. Looking forward to going to KL for the weekend. Chong, Yew Peng, Ah Lai, Adrian and Dennis will be going together with me. Jack and Ann is already in KL and will meet us there. This will get interesting ;)

Hmmm, realised that I haven't given a book review yet. It's been interesting so far.

Bobin called me just now with surprising news :) He got a hold of Star Wars Ep 3 tickets for Chuwy & I. But unfortunately, he can't make it because he has some management class or such to attend. Wow, we get to watch episode 3 and on opening nite some more. Better go buy some star wars costumes. I wonder if Princess Leia's hair buns are available.

May the force be with you, and go forth and multiply. Dunno where that came from. Must be the lack of sleep :)

133. Blur day

The day started with me waking up and realising it's raining heavily. Figured that the Penang bridge will be heavily jammed, I stayed on the island. The rest of the day was rather mundane. Had lunch at Passions of Kerala near my house. Didn't go out in the evening coz have to go office at 6:30am to clear some paper work. So, just stayed home and watched DVD. Saw "The Ladykillers". Interesting show. Thought it'll be an all out comedy. Turned out it was funny, but there's some dark element about it. Went for supper at the Mee Goreng stall near my house. I'm sure i'll spend some time purging tomorrow with all the curry I ate today.

Tuesday
Actually managed to wake up early eventhough end up sleeping at 2am. Did manage to get loads of work done in the quiet of the morning. Feels good. Spend the rest of the day making deliveries and seeing clients.

Left work at about 5:15pm. Had to drop by a customer's place on the way back. Once home, had to send my car to the workshop and spent the rest of the evening there.

Chong and gang decided to go KL this weekend to lepak. Guess I'll join them. Could be interesting. Asian Festival of Speed will be held at Sepang this coming weekend as well. There'll be plenty of things to watch :)

Came home and World Rally Championship on Astro. A nice way to unwind.

132. My car is leaky :(

Sigh, anyway, had a busy day clearing out paper work. Came back home and worked on the car a little bit. Figured out where the leak is coming from and also some hose problems. Tonite will be having dinner with the whole bunch of them. Nicholas is coming out with his wife and baby. Haven't seen her for a while. Chong, Yew Peng, Anthony, Jia Li, Ah Hung and wife will also be there. Met a new friend, Adrian and he sat with us for a while then went off to have dinner with his client.

We ate at May Garden. The food was brilliant. Surprisingly their tuna sushi is better than most of the Japanese restaurants I've been to. After dinner, they went over to SS. I decided not to be that crazy and went home. I'm still feeling a bit down from the fact that i have a leaky car :(

I got a call from them at about 1:30am, they're infront of my house. They've decided to come over to my house to hang around. :) Was nice of them. We stayed up till about 5am.

131. An Entry from Yen Chin's Blog

This is for you, WH. hehe, hope u'll be blessed.

LETTING GO -What It Really Means

To let go does not mean to stop caring,
it means I cannot do it for someone else.

To let go is not to cut myself off,
It is the realisation that I do not control another.

To let go is not to enable,
but to allow learning from natural consequences.

To let go is to admit powerlessness,
which means the outcome is not in my hands.

To let go is not to try to change or blame another,
I can only change myself.

To let is not to care for,
but to care about.

To let go is not to fix,
but to be supportive.

To let go is not to judge,
but to allow another to be a human being.

To let go is not to be in the middle arranging the outcomes,
but to allow others to affect their own outcomes.

To let go is not to be protective,
it is to permit another to face reality.

To let go is not to deny
but to accept.

To let go is not to nag, scold or argue,
but to search out my own shortcomings and to correct them.

To let go is not to adjust everything to my desires,
but to take each day as it comes and to cherish the moment.

To let go is not to regret the past
but to grow and live for the future.

To let go is to fear less and love more

Hi Yen Chin,

Wow, I can write an essay to debate many of the author's thots, but i guess i'll not get into that :)

Suffice to say that this is part of life. Some lucky/blessed ones goes thru life without much pain. Others may have to go thru more hurt than the recommended dossage.

I have gone (note past tense ;)) thru much interesting adventures in my life. I won't trade them for anything else. The good together with the bad has made me realise what it means to grow up. I'm looking forward to many more adventures.....the good and the bad.

Stay tuned to see if i ultimately loose my mind :)

Darn, looks like i end up writing an essay anyway :D

Thanks for taking the time to make this entry and dedicating it to me :)

130. Second day of work....

.....I'm so ready for the weekend :)

Same boring thingy at work. Went over to meet up with Jack, Ann, Yew Peng and Zakri at Yataimura in Pulau Tikus and then over to Segafredo at Belissa Row. After Segafredo we went over to Raffe for supper. While having supper, we saw Anthony drive by. So we gave him a call and he joined us for supper.
129. A week has passed....

....it was an eventful week indeed. Was in Singapore and back to Penang, then off to KL and back to Penang. Phew. Well, back to mundane work today. 'Twas a slow start and good thing it was too. My system has a bit of difficulty adapting back to work :D

Ruyi playing with her new toy

Came back from work and found out that Ruyi's got a new toy :) She's really really happy with it. Heh heh heh. She looks so adorable.

Wee's reaction to Raine's new hairdo :)

This is the other surprise that I came back from work to :) Raine has cut her hair short. Erm, dunno what to think of it and will not comment on it less I piss off the soon to be mother. I'll bite my tongue on this one. ;)
128. Labour Day replacement holiday

Took my own sweet time to wake up :) Basically it's one of those lazy days. Met up with the rest of the guys at Midlands and just chill. Bought some CDs and DVDs. We're had McDs and just hung out at Starbucks.

We had dinner at Yataimura and called it a nite. It's gonna be hard to get back to work tomorrow after a long break. :P

127. The summary of the weekend

Friday
We checked out of our hotel and head to our Singapore office. After a simple lunch of chicken rice, we just hanged around the Singapore office some more and then headed to the airport.

Once we reached Penang, Ai Fen picked us up and Yew Peng picked me up for KL immediately after I reached home. Man, reached KL about 1am and checked into Cititel. Looking forward to saying hello to the bed. We have a long day tomorrow.

Saturday
Went over to Sunway so that Yew Peng can get his college stuff done. Spent the rest of the day oogling over the nice cars in Sunway area and shop for car stuff. Took some photos as well.

Some of the "babes" at Sunway

Sunday
It's Labour Day today, so we slept in late and later had lunch at Delifrance downstairs. Stayed in Midvalley and did some shopping. Left around 5pm and headed to Bukit Tambun to meet Chong, Chong's Japanese visitors, Ah Lai, Anthony, Jia Li and Dennis.

After dinner, we sent Chong's visitors back to their Hotel on the island. Since we don't have to work tomorrow, we decided to go over to Chong's place for GT4 and male bonding.
126. Thursday

Wee, Me, Chuan Sheng and Seng with my first ever pint

'Twas a long day visiting our suppliers and the expo. So we rewarded ourselves with a good lunch, dinner and a bar run. We had lunch near our supplier's plant. It was really good. It was at a Chinese restaurant and they ordered all the best stuff. Yummy.

We adjourned and visited the Expo and spoke to more suppliers. Dinner was at Marche Movenpick at Suntec. My goodness, another full meal. Filled myself to the brim. After that we walked over to Balaclava. Chuan Sheng introduced us to his friend, Timothy who's a pilot with SQ.

He suggested we go over to another place at Boat Quay. It's called Muddy Murphy's. There, I had my first ever pint of Guiness Draft. It was ok i guess. Not gonna try it again.

Then we went over to another hotel lounge to meet Chuan Sheng's cousin. His cousin suggested that we visit this place called Thai Disco and KTV. We agreed since he is the boss.

We didn't realise what we were getting into

We arrived at the Thai Disco and KTV. We had a culture shock. The moment we walked in, the music was in Thai, the DJ was speaking Thai, the waitress takes orders in Thai and the live band, you guessed it, sings Thai songs. Mini Bangkok right in the heart of Singapore. Wow.
125. Back to our hotel

This is our hotel and this is the room I shared with Wee. Goodness, it's quite small, but what can we expect for SGD45 a nite? Our counterpart actually meant it as a prank, so he only made reservations for a nite. We didn't mind, we stayed an extra nite :) Hey, it's cheap and it's a place to lay my head. That's all I wanted.
124. Our nite out after dinner

Desmond, Chuan Sheng, Wee and Seng

We went to this classy place at suntec city called Balaclava. Nice and my bros enjoyed the buy one free one promotion. This place looks set to be their base camp for the next few nites. It's also a good thing the the expo we're attending is just upstairs.
123. Wednesday nite

Our first evening in Singapore. Once we landed we went for some food. Chuan Sheng took us to Geylang for Frog Porridge. I must say, it's really good. Was impressed. Also my first time in Geylang. It's not as dodgy as I have imagined.
