529. Coming soon to your neighborhood.......A Prison.

Someone from our Prisons Department must be a follower or Dilbert's Blog. Sometime back, Dilbert suggested that we have prisoners live with citizens. But, darn it, they're removed the archives, so I can't share the entry here. I do, however, have The Sun's news report on what they're planning to do, right here in Malaysia. Malaysia Boleh! Sheesh.

Unused buildings to house convicts

KAJANG (May 30, 2007): The Prisons Department wants to convert several unused or abandoned buildings across the country into prisons to hold those serving light sentences to overcome overcrowding in jails.
Prisons director-general Datuk Mustafa Osman said for a start, several buildings around Kajang have been identified for conversion within the next three months.

"We are holding discussions with the relevant parties and if they agree, we will take over the buildings and carry out minor renovations by erecting security fences and have minimum security," he said after a passing-out parade for 222 prison staff.

There are 48,000 prisoners housed in prisons nationwide and those facing critical overcrowding are Sungai Buloh Prison, Kajang Prison and Kluang Prison.

Bernama today quoted Mustafa as saying Kajang had been picked for the programme before it was extended to other prisons.

"The public need not worry as the buildings would be guarded as in normal prisons," he said.

He also said the move would prevent those serving sentences for minor crimes from mixing with convicts serving hard time.

Mustafa urged owners of unused buildings or factories to contact the Prisons Department.

He also said the department strength was now 11,000, but it was still short of 4,000 warders.

Finally, got the last piece of 6. My collection is complete, I can now release the Sea Goddess Calypso, sigh, actually, no, I just get to let the toys rot in my closet. But it's nice to know that I have 6 out of 6 :)

528. Happy B'day Seng

OK, last nite was suppose to be a quiet nite, but it didn't end dat way. We had dinner at TGIF to celebrate Seng's b'day. Since their kids were there, it was a rather docile event. Don't get me wrong, there were drinks flowing, just not dat much. Watched the race there as well. Sigh, a valiant effort by Ferrari, but it was McLaren's day. Kudos to the rookie of the year, Lewis Hamilton. I'm guessing Ferrari will try to get him within the next 2 seasons (Ladies & Gents, u heard it here first :P), though it's gonna be tough given the bond dat McLaren has with Lewis.

After that went shopping for a fan to replace my box fan dat kaputed a week back. Got this tiny fan, a tad pricey, but I think it looks great. Didn't like the other ones which were big and has funky lights on them. Too bling bling. This one is just simple and tiny. :) Bought some socks too. I was actually with Ai Fen, Raine, Ruyi & Isaac. It was nice to see the kids so happy at Toys 'R Us. Ahhhhh, those were the good ol days. Not a care in the world. No politics, no bitterness, just the toys & me. :)

After dat, headed home to wat I thot will be the end of the evening. but Mei Yoon called for "dinner" (more like supper). But my bros weren't gonna let me get away without a "proper" celebration. So decided to go Soho as well. Ann wanted to grab "dinner" as well, so since I'm heading to town anyway, picked her up as well. When the smart girl heard dat my bros were going along to hav a b'day celebration, she quickly excused herself. So will meet Mei Yoon another time, Ann on the other hand, didn't know my bros were coming until she got in the car. :D Ha ha, kena conned. but the nite ended surprisingly early at 1am. Both my bros were out :P Muah har har har.

526. Pirates of the Caribbean III

Attended the Motorola Charity Screening of Pirates of the Caribbean: At World's End. It was pretty good. Along with the RM80 ticket which goes to charity, we get a hotdog and water & also a T-Shirt. It was a good movie, although there were some parts which I was a bit lost coz I forgot wat happened in the previous movie. I like the T-Shirt too ;)

After the movie, it's back home to catch some ZZzzzz before dinner @ Double Dragon with Wee, Raine, How, Louisa & Derrick. After dat, we went over to Audees. It's the first time for all of us & we were pleasantly surprised. It has a very nice and elegant ambiance. They have a pool table, a nice band & the dessert was delicious. Perfect. Guess this is the kinda place dat I like.

After dat, met up with Yew Peng, Jack & Ann over at Kassim Mustafa in Pulau Tikus. The rest of the gang is already there. Nice way to end the day.

525. AC Milan takes the

Liverpool lost to AC Milan 2-1 in the Champion's League. Sigh. The referee seems a tad biased against Liverpool. He even ended the game before the full 3 mins injury time is over. Bla bla bla. Bottomline, they lost. All of us went home a little down.

523. Catching up

Mei Yoon is in town! The last time I saw her it was probably 12 yrs back or so. Anyway, we had a good time catching up. She'll be based here for the next 6mths or so. So we'll have plenty more time to catch up. It's always nice to meet an old friend and to see the person they've become. :)

On the way back, ran into Jeff, so end up having a drink at Soho before calling it a nite.

I'm shedding :P My skin's peeling off after being sunburnt on my Pulau Payar trip. Arrrgghhhh the itch!

522. Finally! Well again!

About damn time! :) So decided to take a road trip to KL. Raine & gang is also in KL for My Fair Lady. Wee is in KL as well. So, there I must be too :P Drove down Sat and basically it was a quiet afternoon at The Ritz Carlton for lunch. After that, it's off to Low Yat Plaza to get me a hard drive. Then it's off to The Curve for coffee.

On Sun, was suppose to send Wee to the airport, but he insisted to get a cab. Oh well, it's a good thing I guess, we would've spend a lotta time looking for LCCT anyway. :P Finally headed to KLCC in the afternoon and then over to Sri Hartamas before finally headed back to Penang. :) 'Twas a fun trip. O! Finally bought Linkin Park's Minutes to Midnight. Really nice album, the group sounds different, but in a good way. :)

521. Pulau Payar

Haven't fully recovered yet, but decided to go for it anyway. Overall had a good time. The visibility is bad, other than that, it was a good & relaxing trip (not bringing the cellphone helps!). Water's nice & warm. Managed to spot a couple of sharks too. Sigh, time passes so fast when u're having fun. Hmmm, I can still taste the salt water in my mouth. :)

520. Still Sick :(

Finally went to see the Doctor this morning after an agonizing nite of tossing & turning. First things first, damn the pharmacists who said that I cannot take Clarinase together with Panadol. Damn him! His advice resulted in me taking Clarinase & Panadol in turns, which obviously prolonged my suffering. The good Doctor clarified that even pregnant women can take it with no adverse effect on the child. After my Doctor stopped laughing, he prescribed a mountain of medicine. He sarcastically reminds me not to worry about taking his medications together :P Funny!

Well at least I managed to celebrate mother's day yesterday, though I only had soup. Think Wed's diving trip will be cancelled though. Sigh. "In the name of whesus, viruses begone!!!!!!"

Before seeing the doctor, I only have to take 2 pills, now, I have to take 8 pills (excl Benadryl & Dequadin) :P

519. Sick :(

It's been a while since I've been this sick, guess I would've been ok if not for the things I ate last nite (No regrets though). So spent a lotta time in bed. While confined to bed, can't really sleep. So spend most of the time day dreaming. Then I remembered this song from Michael W. Smith, Do you dream of me? Probably not.

I hope I feel well enough to celebrate mother's day tomorrow & also be able to go on my diving trip this wed :)

518. Penang Bowl

Anyone remember the place? Well, I haven't been there since high school days. After a delightful dinner by the beach with some new friends (it's always nice to meet new people, isn't it?), met up with Chris & Jeff for some bowling. I'm surprised it's still open after all these years. Then later, it's off to Momo to check out their weekly event. Well, it's confirmed! Divas are in! Even in Momo! So the 3 main clubs at UPR have divas. :P Sigh.

Friday nite was dinner at How's place. As always, the meals are sumptous & the drinks & cigars even more so. But alas, I have a really really bad sorethroat. So no drinks or cigars, but I couldn't resist the Beef Jerky & See's chocolate. :P On the way back, stopped by to fill up my car at Shell, decided to get 4 more of the Ferrari cars they're selling. So now it's 5 out of 6. 1 last one to go.
