618. Weekend in KL

Before I took off to KL with Seng, took a few more shots of Ian. And the day before was informed by Seng & Wee that they spotted a Nissan GTR down the road from our house. I didn't see it, but a quick check with Soon Yang confirmed the sighting and he even took a few pix of the car. *Drool*

Reached KL at about 6pm, headed over to Ikea with Seng to grab the Detolf glass cabinet. After that met up with TN & EM for dinner @ Ah Tuan Ee's while waiting for Chuwy to watch The Wanted. The show wasn't too bad, but that's probably because most of my friends told me it wasn't too great, hence I've lowered my expectations. I thought it was quite enjoyable especially after leaving logic at the door.

The next day, we didn't make it to church because Sean (that's right, not me!) couldn't wake up on time. So instead we had a late breakfast and went over to see Chuwy's new home in Putra Heights. Quite a nice place actually, it looked rather small from outside, but it's quite big inside & the design is rather unique too.

617. WELCOME IAN!!!!

Congratulations to Wee & Raine for the arrival of my new nephew, Ian! They went in the hospital just before noon & at about 3pm, out pops Ian. :)

Oh he shares the same birthday as Ah Chiew. hehe, Happy Birthday Ah Chiew! :D

Well, Jeff & Andreas decided to pop into town. Attended Nicole's (Andrea's friend) house warming. A warm, cozy place in Sri Pelangi. Anyway, after dinner, it's off to Sunset Bistro with all of them. Sunset Bistro is a nice place, except they have this little monkey which they caged up. Poor fella doesn't seem to mind though, but it's such a small cage.

The next day, it's off for durians @ Anson Road. The durians were brilliant. After that it's Haagen Daaz to cool down.

616. An Evening with the Bond girls

Apparently tonite is James Bond nite @ Soho Penthouse. The place was packed! There's an appearance by the Bond girls (we later found out it wasn't the REAL Bond girls), a live band playing and of course dancers. All the servers are dressed up. It seems like everyone I know just decided to show up. It was a riot.

Earlier in the afternoon, finally went to T-Bowl in Queensbay Mall. It's a restaurant with a toilet theme. The tables are fashioned out of kitchen sinks and the seats are basically the thrown. Even the food was served in a mini toilet bowl. The food wasn't too bad, basically very similiar to Kim Gary's menu. And while there, bought myself a nifty Aztech cordless phone from Harvey Norman for RM69. This same model was selling @ Jusco for RM119. What the heck! Good thing I decided to check out Harvey Norman, if not, I'd lost RM50 for nothing.

My Random Thots:

Well, you know the old proverb, "Every cloud has a silver lining". Well, there's this huge commotion about the recent 40% fuel hike, everyone has an opinion about how the government should handle the situation. I too, am feeling the pinch, but heck, I am a closet supporter of the fuel hike. Not only that, I'm happy about the toll charges too. Let me clarify, I noticed that recently traffic on the road has gotten better. If anything, this 40% fuel hike has made the road a much better place for me and it sure as heck reduce the Greenhouse gas emissions. All the tree huggers should be glad. I reckon nowadays, people would think twice about going out. Perhaps people will spend more time at home with their families too, thus indirectly improving the quality of life.

615. Happy Father's Day!

Typical Father's Day celebrations. Bah Kut Teh breakfast, a stroll along Gurney Drive, then back home for a nap, & then out for a family dinner. Well, Father's day celebrations is getting more and more precious. As time goes by you realise nothing lasts forever, so we treasure whatever time left. Well, it's also interesting to see how my bros are coping with fatherhood. :)

Raine keeps telling me my day will come and I'll understand it better........CHOI! touch wood!

Trying to be artistic; Isaac & Ruyi

Finally went to The Promenade & The Deck. It's a new place (ala Gurney Drive) along the Jelutong Expressway. It's quite a nice place and there's pasar malam during the weekends. I feel sorry for those who bought the houses along the promenade. Judging from what I see, I think it's gonna be hell trying to find a place to park and not to mention the noise polution. The nite I was there, there's a bunch of kids having a time of their lives camwhoring, some mat rempits and also love birds.

At the deck, there's this 4 huge pillars which looks like an uncompleted water tower. :) Then I read the plaque. Apparently it's an art piece called A Celebration Of Our Blue Sky. The following is the inscription. :)

A CELEBRATION OF OUR BLUE SKY

There stand four tall posts...
but you see only two of them,
sometimes three and sometimes all four...
depending on where you stand.

You come to see these posts...
which symbolize nature...
that is continously changing.

The colour of the posts is blue symbolizing the sky...true!...
but watching the sky at sunset or,
at night you'll give up this cliché...
that the sky is always blue.

The blue in this work of mine symbolizes...
man's desire to return to nature.

This sculpture is created by the
renowned Artist NAKAYAMA Hitori
on the 25th January 2008

614. Narcissism

In this painting by John William Waterhouse, we see a portrait of the
malignant narcissist. He is someone totally absorbed in how he looks, sounds, seems. That's all that matters to him. Nothing else gets any of his attention.

Why such a title for a blog entry you may ask. Well, I think I'm a mild hypochondriac, sometimes when I read an article on health, I'd self-diagnose & think that I have the sypmthoms of whatever illness I'm reading about. Well, so happens I'm reading this article on malignant narcissism. I mean 1 to 3 (don't ask me why such a wierd stat) out of 20 people you meet are malignant narcissists. That's a pretty high number, up to 15%, for any mental illness. It's a pretty interesting read nonetheless. I must admit, to a certain extent, I do fit the bill. :D So am I a malignant narcissist or a hypochondriac? In this case, I'd like to think I'm the latter. Here's more reading on this disorder. I have met quite a few malignant narcissists, maybe even dated one (I'm not a shrink, how the hell would I know if she was one? PS: I'd be lucky if my other dates don't think I'm one! Hehe). But heck, I think they make life more colorful.

Malignant narcissist is someone totally absorbed in how he/she looks, sounds, seems. That's all that matters to him/her. Nothing else gets any of his/her attention. Therefore, I submit as evidence that I'm not a malignant narcissist. I've recently discovered there's this group called Perfume after watching Music Station on Animax. I'm obsessed with Kashiyuka (Yuka Kashino), therefore I'm not self absorbed? errrr, right? Oh crap, did I say obsessed? errr, I mean I mildly like her. Here's their official website and you can watch them performing their 2007 hit single Polyrhythm here. Their music reminds me of Daft Punk. Very catchy and different, of course it helps that they're very attractive too.

613. Happy Birthday Wee!!!

It's Wee's turn to celebrate his b'day. Decided we should go for a proper sit down dinner. Dad suggested Thien Thien Chinese Restaurant @ Red Rock Hotel. The food was surprisingly good (except for the giant Grouper, it was neither fresh nor tasty, yet expensive). Ruyi & Isaac also learnt to hold the chopstick for the first time. Needless to say, their parents were really proud. After dinner, as per tradition, it was back home for the "cake" cutting. On the way back, we stopped by a fruit stall as Raine had Durian cravings. :) Again, it was a rather quiet affair. Mom & dad will be leaving for HK tomorrow, so it's gonna be an early nite as Seng had to send them to the airport at 6.

Came across this NASA website for their Lunar Reconnaissance Orbiter. The Lunar Reconnaissance Orbiter is the first mission in NASA's Vision for Space Exploration, a plan to return to the moon and then to travel to Mars and beyond. Kinky, and we get to be apart of it. All we have to do is go to this website and register our names. Then we'll get a cert saying that we "PARTICIPATED" in the NASA Lunar Reconnaissance Orbiter project. Also, here's the fact sheet of the LRO.
