497. A Long Pause
It's been over 2 weeks since my last entry. Been rather busy 2 weeks really. It seems that Murphy's law is at work here. The busier I am, the more things will go wrong. Sigh. At work, the CPUs, Monitors, printers, scanners & networks goes Kablooie. Then customer issues, car problems, Social functions and also emotional trauma. :P Well, I'm still alive, so guess dat means I'm suppose to be stronger than before. Funny, didn't feel like such. If anything, I feel weaker.
OK, enough melodrama.
Yippie had his housewarming party on the 3rd. Since everyone is there, celebrated Jack's, Antz's, Lai's & Adrian's b'day as well. It's been a long time since we had everyone together. Everyone's so busy now with their family or work. It's rare that we can get the whole gang together. As one grows older, their priorities change, I know mine has.
We ended the evening with a night cap @ Grand Bay Cafe. After they've closed & the other customers and workers left, Charles let us play with the DJ console. It's a pretty complete workstation with 8 channel mixer and 2 CD turntables. He gave us a quick lesson on how to work the Pioneer CD turntable and left us be. Yippie & Chong spent the rest of the evening @ the DJ console. They improved from unbearable to acceptable by the nite's end. I didn't realise mixing or scratching was so easy.

Looking serious!Another event worth mentioning was my trip with Wee to Ho Chi Minh City. Had to attend an exhibition there. I gotta say, Wood really came thru for me on this trip. He helped me make the hotel reservations and arranged the transportation. Owe you one, buddy.
Oh, before I forget, as we reached the Penang airport, we were greeted by an amusing sight. Lemme ask you, how many Penang Airport employees does it take to change a light bulb? 1? 2? 3? 4? Wrong! 6! I shit you not! 3 to watch from the ground, 1 to hold the ladder, 1 to weightdown the ladder and 1 more to actually change the bulb. Don't believe me? I have a picture to prove it! :D With this kinda efficiency, who needs Govt servants? Oh wait! Nevermind.
OK, back to the trip, sad to say, the exhibition that we were suppose to attend was a real dissapointment. It wasn't as big as I expected and it wasn't at all interersting. Worst of all, they speak very limited English.
However, the food over there was excellent (It helps that we have ppl with local knowledge). Every single meal was just heavenly. The food is really healthy with lotsa veggie and little oil. My stomach was surprisingly "happy". I expected to go toilet every half an hour, but was pleasantly surprised it wasn't so. Consequently, I can't write my usual toilet reviews for this trip as I'm happy to report that I've only used the toilet in my hotel room.
Managed to take some time off to explore a market nearby the hotel. Bought some pirated books, some sotong and coffee beans. Then, got a massage, did a facial and chilled at a local coffee joint. I'd say the trip was rather relaxing except for the traffic. I think Vietnamese people are really horny people. I mean they use their horn every other minute on the road. It was pretty traumatic when our driver drove into oncoming traffic and honked them expecting them to give way. Gosh, and my mom thot I drove like a mad man :P Their horn culture is definitely different from ours. If they come over here, they'll be killed by some road bully in minutes. Another episode would be trying to cross the roads there. Wee & I, both grown man, couldn't cross the road. It was that bad. Traffic was coming from all directions and it was non stop. Forget about it. Didn't want my epitaph to read, "The idiot braved the traffic & end up road kill in HCMC."
All in all, had a really good time on this trip.

How many Penang Airport employees does it take to change a lightbulb? 4 books for VND200,000 (Approx RM44.00)
A Vietnamese church (looks like a temple if u ask me); Wee chillin @ a local coffee joint, their coffee is really good

My Random Thots:
Had some time to think on this trip (Please, it's dangerous for us, himbos, to have deep thots ok, we can drown in the deep end, we like being shallow). Especially on the fear of failure. What if the business venture failed? What would that say of me? Then it went south. I started looking back at my life. At all the would haves, could haves, should haves in my life that was hampered by my fear. Fear of public speaking, fear of not being accepted, fear of failure, fear of success (think about it), fear of commitment and, this is a big one, fear of being alone. You know what, screw it! I think it's about time I actually grab life by the balls! Come what may, but I at least wanna look back and say that I've tried. So I may fail, I may not be loved and I may even get my ass kicked, but better life with experiences than regrets. :)
.........Man! I miss the food in Vietnam!
