572. astro-naught

Ok let's start off this entry with Malaysia's latest craze, space tourism. We just sent Sheikh Muzhaphar Shukor into space for the fun of it. Just to prove that we can afford to hitch a ride on a very expensive taxi into space. And while in space, he was suppose to spin a top, play batu seremban and other PR BS like make teh tarik & print batik. Our brilliant govt, of course, realised that spending RM105M to go into space to play with stones and drink tea may cause public uproar, so they updated the mission to include pseudo scientific experiments relating to the characteristics and growth of liver cancer and leukemia cells, the crystallisation of various proteins and microbes in space.

As I've mentioned before, I'm far too inferior to understand the superior minds of my govt, so please, someone explain to me what this is all about. What do the rakyat benefit from this? OK OK, in the hey days, stunts like this will put Malaysia on the map. But we're already on the map! We're infamous (yes, yes, I'm aware this word has a negative connotation). I dun even want to go into the arguement of whether or not this Muzhaphar guy is an astronaut or a space tourist.....yet. First things first, I want to weight the validity of the space flight.

We, Malaysians are kings of justification. This space programs is free courtesy of the Russian govt. We buy a few planes from them to the tune of a few billion and they'll throw in a taxi ride to space. So basically, it's as free as the private jet that Pak Lah gets to use. bla bla bla. BTW, have we paid for the jets yet? I hope it's on some installemnt plan thingy, coz if not, it's a double whammy. This program is stupid and we paid for it in advance. Haha.

I think the next time our govt plan something of this magnitude, they shud ask themselves "WWSD"(tm), what would Singapore do? I mean look at S'pore. If the kiasu bunch didn't do it, Hell, you better not do it coz u know it ain't smart. But dat doesn't mean we shud jump into recycling our waste water to drinking water la. They can do it coz; a) they need to & b) they have better QC over there.

Ok, moving on to the usual bimbo stuff.

Got meself a few things over the week. An Ogio bag, a set of Dell A525 speakers, Burger King Whooper, Dunkin Donuts and a really cool mouse (courtesy of Chuwy).

Ever so often, u come across a product dat's really cool & practical. This weekend I came across just such a product. Wat is it u ask? Well, it's a HP Bluetooth Optical PCMCIA card mouse (dat's a mouth full). It's a pretty nifty gadget. I've always wanted to get a mouse dat's cordless & easy to carry around. With my limited creativity, all I could think of was a mini rechargable wireless mouse. But then Chuwy gave me this mouse. Perfect! it slots right into the PC Card slot on my notebook for charging & storage. no battery, no cables, no nothing. It's accurate and comfortable, what else could I ask for? At last, I can have my cake and eat it. :)

Had my first sip of a Dom Pérignon champagne. This is to celebrate Beau & Mandy's ROM. I'd like to tell you how great or grand it tasted, or how it releases just the right amount of bubbles to tickle my tongue and throat but not irritate them, but then again, I'd be lying. All I can say is, I'm ok with it and I probably couldn't tell it apart from other champagnes. Quality is wasted on the ignorant.

Spent the Raya weekend with Chuwy in KL. Tried a few new things and visited a few new places. First on the list would be Tony Roma's @ Sunway Pyramid. The food was good. Really loved the steak and ribs combo, but was told by Jeff dat in S'pore, they serve pork ribs & those taste even better. Next would be The Pavilion in town. It's a really big place but many shops aren't open yet. Then watched The Magic Gourd with Chuwy & his kids. All I can say is, "It's definitely a show for kids." Then it's Resident Evil: Extinction. Sigh, after all the rave reviews, this movie was a let down. Crap. The Bourne Ultimatum was so much better. On the way back from the city center, while on Jalan Pudu, came across this shop, Kedai Thye Fah Liki bamboo & wooden chicks. Maybe I shud call the number to find out exactly wat they do.

Oh almost forgot, there's an addition to our family. We are proud to introduce Lemon (the name was picked by Ruyi)!

Thus ends a very long week.
